Transfer file (Textbook)

important: District textbooks managers can transfer textbooks by creating a text file. The transfer file must be UTF-8 or Unicode compliant.

Each line of the transfer file must contain (at a minimum):

  • the ISBN of the textbook
  • the Site Short Name of the destination school
  • the number of copies (up to 999)

Each line of the transfer file can contain this information:

  • purchase order number
  • copy budget category
  • copy purchase price

note: If the destination school does not assign barcode numbers when receiving the copies, the order number is retained in the copy record, but the copy budget category and copy purchase price are not.

File format requirements
  • The file is a CSV (comma-delimited) text file.
  • There is no header record.
  • Each transfer takes up one line of the file.
  • The first three fields must exist and contain data.
  • All fields must be in order: ISBN, site short name, quantity, purchase order number, budget category, purchase price.
  • All fields must be separated by commas.
  • The textbook title record must already exist in the district collection.

Once you upload the transfer file, Destiny searches for the ISBNs. When Destiny finds each title record, it creates a transfer for the destination school with the designated number of In Transit copy records without barcodes.

Destiny also creates a job summary listing the copies in transit and any errors.
